Antarctica - A Place in the Wilderness

As part of the YAMP 2008 mentorship program, Brisbane Festival is offering
a role as Project Coordinator. The mentoree will be involved in the development
and implementation of the Indigenous Welcome and Closing for Brisbane Festival
2008 as well as assisting in the development of the local Indigenous programming
content for an Indigenous large-scale outdoor event.
Being part of YAMP 2008 could kick-start your career in the arts. This is an
opportunity to be mentored on-site by dedicated industry professionals. YAMP and
our partners will support the mentorship for 9 months through networking, arts
business training and an industry showcase event.

Festival of Pacific Arts Call for EOIs
Closes 19 Dec. The Australia Council in partnership with State and Territory
Arts Agencies invites expressions of interest from Indigenous artists and
groups to be a part of the Australian delegation attending the 10th Festival
of Pacific Arts to be held in American Samoa from 20 July to 2 August 2008.
Expressions of interest are sought from established Indigenous artists and
groups who have experience in the areas of traditional and contemporary
dance, music, theatre, literature, visual arts, crafts and new media.
Consideration will also be given to individuals/groups who work with

Closes 1 Feb. The Visions of Australia Grant, under the Department of
Communications, Information, Technology and the Arts, provides funding for
individuals and galleries to create and then tour exhibitions of Australian
cultural significance. Funding is flexible and can range anywhere between

Aboriginal Heritage Projects
Apply any time. Aboriginal Heritage Projects provide grants of up to $75 000

Festivals Australia Regional Residencies
Closes: Funding rounds close on 15 Feb (for projects starting after 1 July)
and 15 July (for projects starting after 1 Jan) each year. The Festivals
Australia Regional Residencies program provides regional and remote
communities with the chance to organize community celebrations and local
festivals, aiming to ‘tell their stories and the stories of their
communities’. Under the scheme, artists may also take residencies to work
within the community and represent these stories through cross media arts
projects such as visual arts/crafts, literature, dance, music, drama or

Lord Mayor’s Young and Emerging Artists Fellowship
Closes: Applications will be open from 14 Nov to 11 Feb. The Lord Mayor’s
Young and Emerging Artists Fellowship is a directive of the Brisbane city
council, and provides fundsor up to $20 000 for young, up and coming artists
to participate in national or international training, in support of their
career development. Applicants must be nominated by an individual or
organization within the arts and cultural sector and be between the ages of
17 and 30. Activities supported by the fellowship include travel, study,
tuition and professional mentoring. It may also include a combination of
these activities and participation in a city events program and contribution

ANAT Australian Network for Art and Technology

the 14th of the next month. ANAT provides Australian artists with funds to
attend national and international events, covering the cost of travel,

current residents of Australia. This is a quick response fund, with a
flexible grant amount. The event being applied for must start no earlier

The Lord Mayor’s Sustainability Grants
Closes 25 Feb 2008 (Round Two). Brisbane City Council’s Community Grants
Program provides funding to local non-profit organisations who are seeking
to develop and improve programs and services in the arts, culture and
heritage, community development and active sport and recreation
participation. The grants provide funding for projects that increase the
environmental sustainability of existing facilities through water and energy
savings and greenhouse gas reduction. Categories are Small Grants ($2000 to

The Australian Government has a range of regional and touring arts programs

within Australia performing original Australian contemporary music.

Artlab 2008

offering a grant of $75 000 for new collaborations between artists to engage
